Tessa Tricks’s interest in food and its future stems from a childhood on the outskirts of Bristol [England]. She returned to the Sustainable Food Trust from Seedling Projects in San Francisco, where she worked on the Good Food Awards and the Good Food Merchants Guild as the Maybach Foundation’s Culinary Arts fellow. She recently completed a Masters in the Anthropology of Food at SOAS, University of London, where she wrote her master’s thesis on offal and animal bi-product circulation. The process put offal firmly on her culinary radar. Prior to this Tessa worked as a chef at The Ethicurean, a Michelin bib-gourmand restaurant in Somerset and has written for Fork magazine and Edible Communities.
Do you Dare to Crop Share? #OurField Grows
This past spring, I joined 41 others in the project #OurField, co-invest in a crop. Together with a farmer, we decided what to grow, how to grow it and what we would do with the crop. #OurField is a co-operative grains movement seeking to shift our relationship with food and its production, and working to make the food system a fairer place for farmers.

#OurField is the brainchild of five young women intent on changing farming economics by turning farm ownership on its head. It builds on an earlier Arts Council initiative Field of Wheat. With #OurField, a farmer can share a piece of land with ‘collaborators’ who invest in its crop(s).
