Howard Wachtel is a professor of Economics Emeritus and former interim Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at American University. Author of four books, including The Money Mandarins and a history of Wall Street: Street of Dreams – Boulevard of Broken Hearts. Has written for among others the New York Times, The International Herald tribune, The Nation, Le Monde Diplomatique, and Der Spiegel. He was a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the American Academy in Berlin and a Fellow of the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam.
