Anja Bless is a PhD candidate with the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney where she is researching the politics of regenerative agriculture. Her focus areas are environmental politics, food politics and policy, sustainable food systems, and sustainable consumption. She completed her Honours (First Class) in Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney and holds a Master of Environment (Distinction) from the University of Melbourne. Prior to undertaking her PhD, Anja worked as a policy analyst with the Victorian Government and helped develop climate change policy for the agriculture sector.
‘Regenerative agriculture’ is all the rage – but it’s not going to fix our food system
Despite regenerative agriculture’s popularity and its focus on sustainable food production, it fails to tackle systemic social and political issues. As a result, the movement may perpetuate business-as-usual in the food system, rather than transform it.
